Cynthia Appenteng

Director of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization 

Cynthia Appenteng is the Director of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development (EJS Center). In this role, she is responsible for developing and implementing resource mobilization strategies to support the Center’s work on championing women’s ascension to the highest levels of leadership, and challenging systemic barriers to girls’ and women’s advancement.

Before joining the EJS Center, Cynthia worked with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), leading their partnerships and their fundraising strategy.  She supported CPA’s work on building the capacity of members of parliaments and legislatures in the dispensation of their duties. She was responsible for CPA’s partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Foundation’s Data4SDGs, the Democracy & Culture Foundation, the COP27 Consortium, and more. She was also responsible for USAID bids, foundation grants, and bilateral donors. Prior to that, Cynthia worked with the UN Office for Project Services as their Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Advisor. Responsible for overseeing relationships and working with donors across Anglophone West Africa, she cultivated effective working relationships with development banks, multilateral organizations, and traditional donors.

Cynthia holds an Executive Masters in Public Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science, with extensive experience in leading and implementing successful resource mobilization strategies.
